One of the biggest events of the 4th grade is the fun-filled-field-trip to San Diego. We start the day before the sun rises, take the metro down to San Diego, and enjoy multiple historical tours and scientific education along the way.
Let's start out with the train ride...
First stop- the Birch Aquarium
My personal favorite is the touch tank... especially following our life science focus on ecosystems and symbiotic relationships such as what exists between anemone and the clown fish.

No one warned us about the sharks!!!
The students thoroughly enjoyed their class, but be warned- it included a dissection!!!
Mission time
Mission San Diego de Alcala- the first of all 21 California missions in fact!
Father Junipero Serra was the size of a 4th grader:) He didn't let his age, size, lack of easy transportation, or even his injured foot keep him from starting missions along the coast in Alta California.
Did you make it to the Pajama Jam? If you did, you would have seen many 4th graders enjoying pop corn, pizza, friends & family, and Big Hero 6!!!
A few 4th and 5th grade students showed us what they have been working on in robotics club this year, and it left us all wondering, "How did they do that?!" We are very impressed by the innovative programming of the different teams.
