Field Trips!!!

Field trips continue to be not only fun, but also an effective way to reinforce student learning.
First, we went to Oak Glen to participate in their Wildland’s Conservancy Outdoor Education program. There we covered many or the CA life science standards including adaptations, living and nonliving things interacting in an ecosystem, plus a little bit of art work and a lot of working out.
And while this field trip was still fresh on our minds, we went to the Irvine Railroad Park and OC Zoo. The day started with a train ride that took us through California history trivia, explored a mine shaft, learned about the water wheel, journeyed back in time to the life of a forty-niner with Dirty-Dan… but the highlight must have been panning for gold. Eureka! We received a guided tour at the zoo, visited a nature center and discovery room, and played with some furry friends in the petting zoo.
It’s been a memorable few weeks!
